Ellen Poulsen research collection on the women of the Dillinger gang, 1933-1935. 1933-1935.

Ellen Poulsen compiled this collection of research materials and notes while writing her book, Don't Call Us Molls: Women of the John Dillinger Gang. The featured women include: Pat Cherrington, Marie Conforti, Jean Crompton, Dolores Delaney, Pearl Elliot, Evelyn Frechette, Helen Gillis, Beth Green, Polly Hamilton Keele, Mary Kinder, Opal Long, Mary Longnaker, and Anna Steve. Although the main focus of the collection is on these women, there are also files on a few of the men of the Dillinger gang including Arthur Cherrington, John Dillinger, Clayton May, Earl Northern, Albert Reilly, and Welton Sparks. The documents in this collection date largely from the 1930's and are in the form of census records, FBI reports, letters, newspaper articles, prison records, trial transcripts and proceedings, and vital records (birth, marriage, and death records).

John Herbert Dillinger (June 22, 1903 – July 22, 1934) was an American gangster of the Great Depression. He led a group known as the "Dillinger Gang" which was accused of robbing 24 banks and 4 police stations. Dillinger escaped from jail twice. He was charged but not convicted of the murder of an East Chicago, Indiana, police officer who shot Dillinger in his bullet-proof vest during a shootout.
